The Magistrate Court in Mbala has committed to the High Court a 42 year old driver for trial.

Before Mbala Resident Magistrate, Ken Nkundwe, was Amos Kauzi

of New Location Township in Mbala.

This is in a matter that came up for mention in which Kauzi was facing seven counts of causing death by dangerous driving contrary to the Road Traffic Act No. 11 of 2002.

Facts of the matter are that Kauzi on July 26, 2024 while driving a Toyota Hiace Minibus, registration AIE 6088 ZM, along the Mbala – Kasama road, a public road did cause an accident that claimed the lives of seven people.

The deceased include Prudence Namukoko, Leticia Nakapite, Mwamba Chilundo, Norah Mwandi, Sarah Chizimu, Jimmy Sipanje, and Mutati Daniel Pande.

When the matter came up for mention, Magistrate Nkundwe committed to the High Court Kauzi for trial in the matter because of the gravity of the case.
