Chongwe Municipal Council says it has paid out Cash for Work beneficiaries, whose payments had bounced back into the Bank account since the inception of the program last year.
In a press statement issued to ZANIS, Chongwe Municipal Council Public Relations Officer Peter Sukwa said the local authority has since paid a total of K3,702,858 to 7605 beneficiaries.
Mr Sukwa said on December 30, 2024 the council paid a total K3,376,200 to 5632 beneficiaries, whose payments bounced back due to inactive sim cards or information not corresponding with their National Registration Cards (NRCs).
He further said on December 31st, 2024 a total of K858,000 was paid to 1430 whose money had bounced too.
“The local authority on January 24th and 28th, 2025, paid K145, 200 to 242 beneficiaries and K77,400 to 129 respectively, while another payment amounting to K103,200 was recently paid to 172,”he explained
Mr Sukwa disclosed that a number of cash for work bouncing payments which were on the increase during the inception of the program had drastically reduced.
He urged beneficiaries to ensure that they submit correct mobile numbers and correct information to the officers that are processing their payments.
Mr Sukwa said beneficiaries are however free to use any mobile money network of their choice such as MTN, ZAMTEL and AIRTEL for their payments.
