LUANO ASSURED OF BUMPER HARVEST-DC

Luano District Commissioner Kells Meleki has expressed optimism that Luano will this year have a bumper harvest following good rains.

Mr Meleki says the district has seen a good crop performance among many fields owing to the good rainfall pattern and the quick delivery of inputs by the government.

Mr Meleki told ZANIS in Kabwe that all the farmers under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP received their inputs and planted in good time.

“Despite that, about 300 farmers were trained in Climate Smart Agriculture techniques which we believe have been applied as seen from the good crop performance,” said Mr Meleki.

He explained that farmers in Mboloma, Chingombe, Chief Chembe, Mbosha and Chimika were trained in smart agriculture.

Meanwhile, Luano Council Chairperson Paul Tembo says the intensified  rains that occurred in January and February have degraded the Luano-Kabwe road which was rehabilitated last year.
