24 CELL PHONES WORTH 87 THOUSAND KWACHA STOLEN DURING N’CWALA

Eastern Province Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba says a total of 24 phones with the estimated value of K87 thousand were stolen during the Nc’wala celebration period.

Mr Mweemba said that of the 24 phones, two of them were Iphones with an estimated value of 14 thousand and were recovered during Nc’wala ceremony on Saturday 22 February, while the remaining 22 have not been recovered.

Speaking to ZANIS in an interview, Mr Mweemba added that five arrests were made in connection with the theft.

He further disclosed that in order to provide security to those attending the ceremony, the Police Service pitched a tent where people could go for their complaints.

“We had positioned a Kasalanga vehicle which was a holding cell where criminals were packed and driven to the mother station,” he said.
