MUCHINGA COMMISSIONER OF POLICE CALLS FOR PARTNERSHIP


Muchinga Province Deputy Police Commissioner, Fred Hamaamba has called on the community to partner with the police in reporting crime in their areas on time.

Mr Hamaamba stated that the timely reporting of crime to the nearby police stations helps the officers on duty to swiftly respond to them.

Speaking during a cleaning operation of the environment by Police officers in Kabuta township in Chinsali District yesterday, Mr Hamaamba charged that the collaboration of the community with the Police is a significant step in curbing crime.

He said that the work of the Police service is made easier when the community is engaged in identifying areas that are characterised with crime.

“We as the Police officers are here to provide a service to the community including areas such as Kabuta where we are now which is a high crime area,” he said.

Mr Hamaamba mentioned this ahead of the Police Day celebrations slated for 4th March, that the officers from Muchinga Division embarked on a cleaning exercise in Kabuta area to show the residents in the area that Police officers are their partners in various aspects.

And some residents talked to by the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS), said the initiative by the Zambia Police in the area is highly commendable by the community.

Mr Kanchifya, a resident of Kabuta area thanked the Zambia Police in Chinsali for actualising the keep Zambia clean, green and healthy through their community service adding that it is now up to the residents to take it up.

The 2025 Zambia Police Day will be held under the theme, “Enhancing crime prevention through community participation for a secure and peaceful environment”.
