ACC ARRESTS THREE SOLWEZI MUNICIPAL COUNCIL EMPLOYEES

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested and charged three employees of Solwezi Municipal Council for corrupt practices involving over K200 000.

Andrew Mutobo, a Senior Health Education Officer aged 38, Inambao Muwanei aged 40 of Solwezi, a Cleaning Superintendent of Kabwe and 32 year old Mpomwa Sinkala also from Solwezi, allegedly supplied goods worth K228, 560 to Solwezi Municipal Council, where they are employees.

The three allegedly did so as shareholders of a company called Mai Innovations Limited between the 1st of January and October 30, 2023, without declaring interest as required by the Public Procurement Act number 8 of 2020.

The trio have therefore been arrested and jointly charged with one count of Conflict of Interest contrary to the Public Procurement Act number eight of 2020.

The arrests have been made following anomalies observed in the Special Auditor General’s Report on Solwezi Municipal Council conducted in 2023.

The three have since been released on police bond and will soon appear before the courts of law.

This is contained in a statement issued to ZANIS by ACC Head of Corporate Communications, Timothy Moono.
