The Ministry of Green Economy and Environment has launched the Kids Climate Change Fair in Lusaka scheduled for March 14, 2025. The Fair is aimed at strengthening climate action and environmental education as key components of Zambia’s sustainable development agenda.
Director of Green Economy and Environment, Ephraim Shitima, states that the ministry is committed to introducing climate change education and sustainability principles at an early age.
In a speech read on his behalf by Acting Principal Green Economy Development Officer, Dalitso Tembo, Mr Shitima noted that nurturing a generation that values and protects the environment is crucial for sustainable development.
“The Kids Climate Change Fair provides an opportunity for children to learn, engage, and become active participants in climate action,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Education Senior Jets Officer, Anecetus Moonga, commended various stakeholders on their efforts to promote climate education among children.
He highlighted the ministry’s dedication to supporting environmental education and sustainability.
“Clubs are being set up in various schools, providing a platform for children to learn about climate change and raise awareness amongst their peers,” Mr Moonga said.
