Two female pupils of Nkandazofu Primary school, in chief Chikanta’s area of Kalomo District have been struck to death by lightning.

Kalomo District commissioner, Joshua Sikaduli confirmed the incident to Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) on the death of 13 years old Lines Muleya and 14 years old Beatrice Simwami.

Mr Sikaduli explained that Nkandazofu Priamary School Headteacher, Collins Siachija reported that two grade six female pupils were struck by lightning while sheltering under a tree, on their way home.

The District Commissioner expressed sadness over the death of the two minors, citing another untimely death of a prominent transporter and farmer from the same area, Winter Siamundyoli who was recently shot dead by unknown people.

The bodies of the two females have since been taken to Nkandazofu clinic for postmortem, while investigations over the shooting of Mr Siamundyoli were instituted.
