Two youths from Bauleni have been officially unveiled for possible football trials in Georgia Eastern Europe through the Mulambo Haimbe Football Scouting tournament that was held last year.
Lusaka Central Constituency Member of Parliament, Mulambo Haimbe, who unveiled the two stand out players, emphasised the need to direct young people in the right path such as the prestigious Georgia League in Europe in order to avoid bad vices.
ZANIS reports that the selection of the two standout football players came about in December 2024 through the inaugural Mulambo Haimbe Scouting football tournament that saw 26 teams from Lusaka compete in the eyes of foreign and local football scouts.
Mr Haimbe explained that the idea behind the scouting tournament was to showcase local talents by bringing a Scout from Georgia for a possible play-off in the European league.
“Young people are fond of taking refuge in substance abuse and other vices instead of being focused with grooming their talents, so we took it upon ourselves to give them tools and a platform,” he said.
He further disclosed that the two players have since been attached to NAPSA Football club in order to keep fit as they prepare to travel for their trials in Europe.
Mr Haimbe assured the youth of more sports development initiatives through various stakeholders.
He was speaking when he handed over two Zambian passports to Francis Mukoma of global foundation soccer academy and 19-year-old Shadreck Kunda of You and Us sports academy in Bauleni.
Mr Haimbe also donated 11 sets of football jerseys to 11 youth teams in Bauleni area in his constituency.
He has since encouraged youths in Bauleni to be disciplined as well as concentrate on their talent and skills for possible opportunities beyond Zambia instead of engaging in bad vices.
Meanwhile, 17 year old Francis Mukoma of global foundation soccer academy said he is grateful for the opportunity that has been accorded through the talent identification tournament that was held last year dubbed, Mulambo Haimbe Football Scouting Tournament.
