SHIWANGANDU DISTRICT CONNECTED TO E-GOVERNANCE SYSTEM

Government through Smart Zambia has connected Shiwang’andu District Administration and the local authority offices to the E-Governance System.

This is in a quest to ensure effective communication and coordination of government correspondences.

Principal Information and communication Technology Officer  for Muchinga Province under Smart Zambia, Francis Hachoombwa said the Wide Area Network being connected to all government institutions in Shiwang’andu District is part of government policy to digitalize the system efficiency and effectiveness.

He told the Zambia News and information services (ZANIS) in a phone interview that the internet connectivity is an ongoing program which the Government through Smart Zambia has made agreement with starlink connectivity.

He said as the province prepares to host its Expo in September this year, each District will create a website to be shared with the Ministry of Tourism which will help in dissemination of information about the potential investment each District has.

Mr Hachoombwa added that so far, five Districts including the local authorities have been connected to the E-Governance System.

“We are equal to the task of ensuring that we implement the Presidential directive of connecting all government institutions and local authority to E-governance,” He said.

He named the Districts that are already accessing free government internet as Nakonde, Mafinga, Mpika, Chinsali and Shiwang’andu Districts.

He disclosed that equipment is already in place and Zamtel has also connected  the Fibre to the District Administration and hoped that by Monday next week Shiwang’andu District Administration will be activated on the E-Governance System.

Commenting on the connection, some civil servants talked to by ZANIS expressed joy with the internet connection which they said was long overdue.
