The Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities (ZAPD) has commended the resilience, innovation, and passion of youths with disabilities in the country.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS ahead of tomorrow’s youth day commemorations, ZAPD Director General, Frankson Musukwa, says youths with disabilities inspire everyone and should be celebrated and acknowledged for their resilience.

Mr Musukwa reaffirmed Government’s commitment to supporting as well as empowering youths with disabilities to enable them reach their full potential.

He indicated that the Agency believes in the abilities of the youths with disabilities and will ensure inclusivity, noting that access to the environment prepares them well to thrive.

“We believe in their abilities and are dedicated to creating an inclusive and accessible environment that allows them to thrive as leaders of tomorrow,” he said.

Mr Musukwa reminded the youths with disabilities that their contributions are significant as they are representatives of the disability community as well as change makers in the society.

“As you celebrate Youth Day, remember that you are not just representatives of the disability community, but also leaders, innovators and change-makers. Your voices matter, and your contributions are invaluable,” he said.

He urged young people with disabilities to amplify their voices and contribute to national development through economic empowerment.

“So, let us celebrate your strengths, your talents and your achievements. Amplify your voices and create opportunities that contribute to national development through robust economic empowerment driven by a government that cares for your future development needs.

“Tomorrow, 12th March as the country celebrates Youth Day, I want to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate youths with disabilities for their resilience, determination, innovation and passion as they are an inspiration to us all,” he said.
