Chilanga District Commissioner David Sheleni has died.

Mr Sheleni died in the early hours of today, March 14, 2025, at his house following an illness.

Chilanga District Administrative Officer Maureen Chilende confirmed the death of the District Commissioner to the heads of departments in the district. 

Meanwhile, Chilanga Town Council Chairperson Champion Tembo has described Mr Sheleni as a committed leader with exemplary leadership qualities that made a lasting impact on the community. 

Mr Tembo has also pledged to honour the late District Commissioner’s legacy by continuing to strive for the betterment of Chilanga district.

“I am profoundly saddened by the news of Mr David Sheleni’s passing. His unwavering commitment to our district and exemplary leadership qualities have made a lasting impact on our community. 

“We will honour his legacy by continuing to strive for the betterment of Chilanga. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and all who knew him. Rest in peace. Mr Sheleni,” said Mr Tembo.

The late Chilanga District Commissioner David Sheleni was appointed District Commissioner in November 2021, a position he served until his demise.
