LIGHTNING has struck dead four people from one family in Chifunabuli district.
The quartet, consisting of a couple and their two children, were struck while sheltering from rain in a makeshift grass thatched house at a fishing camp on the peninsula on Lake Chifunabuli.
ZANIS reports that Chifunabuli District Commissioner, Stanley Mukosa has confirmed the incident which happened on November 19, 2024 around 17:40 hours.
“I can confirm that four people from the same family from Kafwimbi Village, Masanta area, in Senior Chief Mwewa’s Chiefdom have died after being struck by lightning and burning them to death on November 19, 2024 at around 17:40 hours during a heavy downpour,” Mr Mukosa said.
He identified the deceased as Oscar Chishala, 39, the husband, Mary Chishala, 30, the wife, Pauline Chishala, 11, the daughter and Oscar Chishala Junior, 18 months old.
The charred remains of the deceased have been retrieved in readiness for burial.
