The ballot papers for Luangwa ward by-election in Chama North Constituency have been delivered in Chama district for the bye election slated for 2nd May, 2024.

ZANIS reports that District Electoral Officer, Francis Muzyani said the ballot papers were delivered at exactly 09:30 hours from Lusaka.

‘’The arrival of ballot papers was witnessed by all stakeholders, and political party agents. Few ballot papers were sampled from one of the boxes and all members that were present witnessed the opening of the ballot papers and appended their signatures,’’ Mr Muzyani said.

Mr Muzyani further explained that the ballot papers after being checked have been secured until election day.

He said the district was still having meetings with political liaison officers concerning the by-election.

‘’At the moment we are winding up with the training of poll staff who will be deployed a day before the poll day,” he stated.

He said the district is also briefing the police officers who will be in charge of security on the actual day of voting.

The District Electoral Officer said the district was ready to hold the by-election according to schedule.

The ward fell vacant following the resignation of James Gondwe who had joined the civil service as a teacher.
