US GOVT. COMMENDED FOR CONSTRUCTING WATER INFRASTRUCTURE

Minister of Water Development and Sanitation, Collins Nzovu has commended the United States government for constructing various water infrastructure projects across 13 districts in Northern, Western, Southern, and Luapula Provinces.

Mr Nzovu says the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s support, extends beyond individual communities to large-scale projects.

ZANIS reports that the Minister was speaking today when US Ambassador to Zambia Michael Gonzales paid a courtesy on him at his office.

“Water supply and sanitation remain top priorities for our Government’s development agenda. As the adage goes, “Water is life,” and it plays a critical role in Zambia’s socio-economic development,” he said.

He added that these efforts align with Zambia’s Vision 2030, which aspires to achieve universal access to clean and safe water as well as adequate sanitation services.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to Zambia Michael Gonzales said he is willing to start engaging with the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation.

Mr Gonzales emphasised his commitment to building on existing relationships, partnerships, and collaborations that the teams have enjoyed for many years.

He said the aim of the meeting is to understand from the senior leader the strategic priorities of the government and the Ministry, particularly in addressing the challenges posed by the recent drought.
