President Hichilema calls for peace and unity

President Hakainde Hichilema has called on Zambians to promote peace and unity among all tribes in the country.

President Hichilema has warned against divisive talks that can disrupt the peace and unity the country is enjoying.

Speaking in Kitwe today when he graced the United Party for National Development (UPND) fundraising dinner, President Hichilema wondered why patriotic Zambians including Members of Parliament would want to divide the country.

“Let us keep our country united, no one should divide us, do not allow anyone to speak division, our country is beautiful, let us protect and invest in it ,” he said.

And President Hichilema thanked the business community for supporting the party adding that UPND will not use tax payers’ money to fund the party.

Meanwhile, the Head of State urged the UPND members to work hard and grow the economy and pledged to continue providing a conducive business environment.

And UPND Treasurer General, Watson Lumba said he was hopeful that the fundraising committee will surpass the targeted amount after raising five million Kwacha before the fundraising dinner.

And Copperbelt Minister, Elisha Matambo said the party was conducting the fundraising dinner to raise funds for construction of the Copperbelt Provincial secretariat and preparations for the 2026 General elections.

He thanked President Hichilema for supporting the party even before he was in power.

“In the past years, it was hard to fundraise for UPND but we had a determined and focused leader who sacrificed himself, his family and resources for the party and now 2026 we will need resources to prepare, we will need vehicles, regalia and many other logistics,” he said.

The fundraising dinner which was attended by various cabinet ministers and senior party leaders was held under the theme ‘Ignite your Dream.’
