PRESIDENT HICHILEMA MAKES CHANGES AT MINISTERIAL, PS LEVEL

President Hakainde Hichilema has made changes at ministerial and permanent secretary level. 

The changes made by the Head of State are in pursuant to Article 270 of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.

President Hichilema has with immediate effect terminated the appointment of Muchinga Province Minister Henry Sikazwe, Government Deputy Chief Whip Gregory Ngowani, Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Henry Mukungule.

Others whose appointments have also been terminated include Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Robert Kamalata, Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Mighty Mumba, and Controller of Internal Audit, Ministry of Finance and National Planning Ringo Zulu.

ZANIS reports that President Hichilema has also terminated the appointments of the following Permanent Secretaries pending redeployment, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security Joseph Akafumba, Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary Augustine Kasongo and Permanent Secretary Special Duties Mwamba Peni.

This is according to a press statement issued by State House Principal Private Secretary Bradford Machila.

According to the statement, the President has further made appointments in pursuant to Article 117 (1), Article 92 (2) (e) and Article 184 (1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.

The Head of State has appointed Njavwa Simutowe as Minister for Muchinga Province while Nason Musonda has been appointed as Minister for Luapula Province.

Mr Hichilema has further appointed Likando Mufalali as Government Deputy Chief Whip.

The Head of State has also appointed Mulele Mulele as Permanent Secretary for Economic Management  and  Finance under the Ministry of Finance and National Planning.

Others appointed include Ministry of Finance and National Planning Permanent Secretary for Budget Economic Affairs Mwaka Mukebesa, Ministry of Finance and National Planning Permanent Secretary in charge of Planning and Administration Prudence Kaoma, while Lazarous Mwanza has been appointed as Permanent Secretary for the Copperbelt Province.

Meanwhile Prudence Chinama has been appointed as Permanent Secretary for Luapula Province and Reverend Mathews Chilekwa has been appointed as Permanent Secretary for Muchinga Province.

And President Hichilema has in pursuant to Article 92 (I) of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia made transfers at permanent secretary level. 

The Head of State has transferred Maambo Hamaundu from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to the Ministry of Defence, while Norman Chipakupaku has been moved from the Ministry of Defence to the Office of the Vice President as DMMU National Coordinator.

Meanwhile Gabriel Pollen who served as DMMU National Coordinator under the Office of the Vice President has been moved to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, while Patrick Mucheleka who served at Cabinet Office has been taken to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and Joe Kalusa has also been moved from Cabinet Office to Lusaka Province.

President Hichilema has since thanked the officials whose contracts have been terminated for their service rendered to the government and has since wished them well in their future endeavours.

The Head of State has since congratulated the newly appointed officials and wished them God’s blessings as they take up their new roles.
