RDA Praises Progress on Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway

The Road Development Agency (RDA) has expressed satisfaction with the progress of works on the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriage way project.

RDA Head-Communications and Corporate Affairs Anthony Mulowa says the road authority is happy with the pace of works on the 327-kilometer Lusaka-Ndola road by the consortium Macro Investment Oceans of China.

Mr. Mulowa expressed confidence that the concessionaire will deliver the project on schedule within the three-year time frame allocated for the construction of the Lusaka-Ndola road.

Meanwhile, the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) has called for increased local contractors’ involvement in projects awarded to foreign contractors from the current twenty percent to fifty percent as part of capacity building and empowerment to local companies.

President Hakainde Hichilema recently  launched the construction works of the 327 kilometres Lusaka-Ndola and the Fisenge -Masangano dual carriage way.

Speaking when he officially commissioned the construction works, Mr. Hichilema expressed concern on the increased cases of road traffic accidents occurring on the road hence the need to find lasting solutions to the problem.

He said one of the sustainable solutions is the construction of an improved road network which will also reduce the cost of doing business through fast movement of goods.
