Govt. commissions three projects worth K9.1 million CDF in Isoka

Government has officially commissioned three projects worth over K9.1 million procured using Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Isoka District in Muchinga Province.

The projects include a 1 x 3 classroom block constructed at cost of K416,333.50 at Kafwimbi Secondary School, a tipper truck bought at a cost of K1.6 million and 6,595 double seater desks bought at K7,156,691.

Muchinga Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Matthews Chilekwa, commissioned the three projects on behalf of the Provincial Minister Henry Sikazwe in Isoka today.

Commissioning the three projects at an event held at Kafwimbi Secondary School, the Deputy Permanent Secretary said government will remain committed towards ensuring that all CDF projects yield positive results in the communities.

Rev. Chilekwa, stated that the education facility will help in alleviating challenges of congestion in classes.

He said the classroom block, which was constructed at a total cost of 416,333 Kwacha, is in line with governments’ agenda of ensuring that there is increased access to quality education.

“I wish to also mention that today I will also be flagging off the distribution of 6,595 school desks procured under the 2023 CDF to help address the deficit of desks in schools,” he said.

Rev. Chilekwa, further reaffirmed the ggovernment’s desire to continue providing a concise teaching and learning environment for the education sector.

And Isoka Town Council Chairperson, Arredy Silwimba, assured government that all CDF running projects in the district will be completed on time.

Mr Silwimba said the handing over of a classroom block, procurement of a tipper truck as well as the distribution of desks reflects the commitment of the local authority towards the implementation of CDF projects.

He noted that the steadfast completion of projects has been facilitated by the recently increased CDF allocation by President Hakainde Hichilema.

“Allow me to reaffirm Isoka Town Council’s resolve towards ensuring that there is prudent utilisation of these funds,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, Senior Chief, Kafwimba of the Namwanga people of Isoka district, has commended the government for the effective implementation of CDF projects in his chiefdom.

Chief Kafwimbi said the projects are positively changing the development landscape of the district through their timely actualisation.

The traditional leader stated that he was proud to be associated with good projects like a new classroom block at Kafwimbi Secondary, the distribution of desks and the tipper truck which are being delivered through CDF.

“There is need to strongly support such initiatives being undertaken by our able Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development”, he said.

The traditional leader further appealed to the community to guard the newly constructed school infrastructure jealously in order for the structure to stand a test of time.

He also sounded a stern warning to perpetrators of vandalism, stressing that anyone with anti-social behaviour or criminality will face the wrath of the law.
