Kafue Social Cash Transfer beneficiaries commend Govt

The bbeneficiaries of Social Cash Transfer in Kafue District have commended the Government for extending the National Health Insurance scheme (NHIMA) coverage to them.

In an interview with ZANIS, Benedict Daka, one of the beneficiaries said the initiative by the Government to extend the NHIMA services to them will assist vulnerable households to access inclusive healthcare services.

Mr Daka who is differently abled disclosed that vulnerable people especially, the persons with disabilities had challenges to afford proper medical services due to inadequate finances.

“We are happy that NHIMA has come in to provide us with proper health care services. This program will assist us a lot in accessing health services, especially for people with disabilities,” Mr Daka said.  

He stated that the initiative by the government will go a long way in mitigating the challenge of limited medical access faced by vulnerable households.

Mr Data further said the initiative is key in the provision of Universal health coverage and he thanked the Government for the ongoing pilot project.

“We commend the Government for this program, it will go a long way in mitigating the challenge faced by vulnerable households,” said Mr Daka.

Meanwhile, NHIMA Public Relations Officer, King Siachika said the extension of Medical Coverage to the poor and vulnerable pilot project targets to register over a Hundred Thousand beneficiaries in seven selected districts across the country.

Mr Siachika added that Kafue is the second district to implement the pilot project after Ndola and 2000 households are being targeted.

He disclosed that the project aims to provide financial risk protection for the vulnerable people who are on social cash transfer and cannot contribute to the health Insurance Scheme to access quality health care services.

“This pilot project targets to register over a hundred thousand beneficiaries, in 7 districts across the country. The aim is to provide financial risk protection for the vulnerable who are on social cash transfer and cannot contribute to the health Insurance Scheme to access quality health care services,” said Mr Siachika.
