H-Figov road works nearing completion

The Luanshya Municipal Council has partially reopened H -Figov Road, which was closed for almost a year to allow for rehabilitation works in the area.

Luanshya Municipal Council Public Relations Manager, Gideon Thole

says the move is intended to ease traffic flow and decongest the Central Business District (CBD).

Mr Thole stated that the project contractor JM&J Construction and Trading Limited, has completed over 90 percent of the road construction works.

ZANIS reports that Mr Thole added that the remaining tasks include the installation of drainage lids, completion of aprons, signage, and clearing.

He disclosed that construction works are jointly funded by the local authority and a local collaborating partner, China Non-ferrous Metal Company Luanshya Copper Mine (CLM) at a cost of over two million Kwacha.

Mr Thole has since appealed to motorists and other road users to exercise caution while using the partially opened road to enable the contractor, who remains on site, to complete the remaining works.

He said that the Local authority has also urged motorists to refrain from parking their vehicles on the roadsides to avoid obstruction and allow smooth flow of traffic.

And the road users have applauded the local authority for rehabilitating the road, stating that it will minimize vehicle maintenance costs.

Diamond Chisenga said the government has shown commitment towards improving the road network in the district.
