Human resource practitioners urged to be agents of change.

 Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management President Kelvin Shimuzhinga says human resource practitioners are agents of change for national development.

And  ZIHRM Chief Executive Officer, Owen  Chilala  has called on employers to critically prioritise mental health issues of their personnel for enhanced productivity..

Mr Shimuzhinga says it is for this reason that his institute has prioritised capacity building training for human resource practitioners in the country to realise their key role in achieving their respective organisational goals and expectations.

He emphasises that it is vital for  human resource managers  to acquire core human resource skills in line with the changing trends in organisations,  by targeting action plans, rewarding performance and improving low performance,  among others.

He said this at a ZIHRM workshop training with Human Resource  Practitioners under the theme” Building people and in turn, people building businesses, ” in Siavonga District.

” Let me emphasise that as human resource practitioners we are the trendsetters in organisations and I urge you all to use this workshop as a step ahead to ensure quality delivery in organisations,” Mr Shimuzhinga said.

Meanwhile, ZIHRM Chief Executive Officer, Owen  Chilala called on human resource managers in the country to critically prioritise mental health issues of its employees.

Mr.Chilala said important topics have been selected in the employment code number three of 2019 to empower human resource managers on how to deal with mental health issues and other issues vital for service delivery.

In a separate interview with ZANIS, the ZIHRM C.E.O stressed that  his institute aims to equip human resource practioners with necessary knowledge on how to manage employment issues such as laws governing the employment processes according to the Employment Act number three of 2019.

” We want all our Human Resource  practioners to be in line with the employment Act, he or she must be concerned the mental the workers as people are going through a lot such as financial crisis, depression, among others,” he said.

ZIHRM CEO added that human resource practioners need to know how to handle workers mental health by ensuring that working service conditions support the positive productivity of a worker.

And Siavonga district Commissioner Geoffrey Jakopo implored employers and employees to work in harmony so as to enhance good working relationship and environment that will contribute to national development.

“If employers and workers work in harmony, it helps a worker to contribute positively to a work place,” he said in a separate interview.
