WORKS ON MWINILUNGA DISTRICT HOSPITAL ADVANCE

SANES General Dealers, the contractor engaged by the government to carryout completion works at the new Mwinilunga District hospital in Kawiku area, targets to complete the works and handover the project by the end of July 2025.

General Project Manager Lukanga Mulilo revealed that all requisite materials required to complete the building, including two project vehicles, have since been procured and are on site with construction works being expedited to meet the project delivery date of July, 2025.

She acknowledged governments unwavering support and commitment towards the project, while assuring government and the people of Mwinilunga that her firm will ensure that the project is ready for hand over by end of July this year.

And Mwinilunga District Commissioner Harrison Kamuna said the government is in a hurry to have the hospital running in order to reduce pressure on the old hospital whose capacity to effectively offer medical services has become limited.

Mr Kamuna said the old Kanyihampa hospital is currently overwhelmed due to increased health care demand arising from sharp rise in district population.

“The old hospital has become small for our population now, it has few rooms, it has limited room to provide for certain medical interventions, so this new hospital will provide relief to the people in the district” he said.

Government awarded SANES general dealers the contract to complete works on the new Mwinilunga district hospital in April 2024 after works on the project stalled for close to five years.

The project is worth K23,000,000 and is fully funded by the Ministries of Health and Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development.
