The Zambia Humanitarian Actors Forum (ZHAP), with support from OXFAM Ireland, has trained 30 Kaoma-based Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in humanitarian response and disaster management.
The two-day training, held at MUMUS Lodge in Kaoma, aimed to enhance the capacity of local CSOs to mobilize resources and respond to emergencies, reducing reliance on external support.
Kaoma District Administrative Officer, Pius Mishengo, who represented District Commissioner, Kashina Sheba, emphasised the importance of collaboration among CSOs to effectively mobilise local resources and provide humanitarian aid during disasters.
ZHAP National Coordinator, Steven Nyirenda, explained that the training was designed to build the capacity of CSOs to respond to disasters.
Mr Nyirenda said ZHAP was focusing on areas such as water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), food security, environment and climate change.
OXFAM Humanitarian Programme Manager, Tipo Ntini disclosed that his organisation had provided K560, 000 in financial and technical support to ZHAP.
Mr Ntini explained that the support was aimed to strengthen the capacity of local CSOs to respond to emergency disasters.
