MBALA RESIDENTS URGED TO PREVENT CHOLERA OUTBREAK

Mbala District Commissioner Jestus Sikazwe has emphasised the need for residents to be vigilant if they are to prevent any possible outbreak of Cholera and other diseases.

Mr Sikazwe has disclosed that the district has put in place measures that would prevent possible outbreaks of diseases and that people should remain alert.

ZANIS reports that Mr Sikazwe has assured residents in Mbala and Northern Province as whole to ensure that the region remains free of disease outbreaks.

The District Commissioner made the remarks when he officiated at the District Epidemic Preparedness meeting in Mbala yesterday.

The meeting was aimed at strengthening measures against potential Cholera threats.

And speaking at the same meeting, Mbala District Health Director, Frederick Chimanga revealed that the area has a well-trained Rapid Response Team (RRT).

Dr Chimanga said the team has since intensified surveillance along key border points, such as the Kasesha border, which connects Zambia to Tanzania.

He has assured the community that the district is fully prepared to handle any Cholera cases should they arise.
