Muchinga Minister applauds President Hichilema for the $270 Million World Bank grant

Muchinga Province Minister, Henry Sikazwe has expressed gratitude to President Hakainde Hichilema and his administration for securing a grant from the World Bank to a tune of 270 million dollars towards the rehabilitation of the Serenje -Mpika road and development of Nakonde One Stop Border Post in Muchinga Province.

Mr Sikazwe says the funds released have come at the right time adding that the earmarked stretch along the Great North Road and refurbishing of a one border post to be worked on, will facilitate development and benefit a lot of people in Muchinga Province including Serenje District and the nation at large.

He says the six-year Transport Corridors for Economic Resilience (TRACER) projects will improve transportation of goods and services and enhance trade not only for the country but the people of Muchinga Province.

The Minister adds that the implementation works of the projects will also benefit a lot of locals in Muchinga and the entire nation through the creation of more employment opportunities once the projects starts.

“For the locals along the Great North Road on a named stretch and the entire Muchinga Province, will benefit greatly from these projects as it will boost the economic landscape of the province,” he states.

And Mr Sikazwe says the rehabilitation of Nakonde Border Post will change the face of the district and increase revenue base for Zambia Revenue Authority through the border post.

He states that the International Development Association grant is a true reflection of governments efforts towards fostering development and commitment by President Hichilema in creating jobs for the people.

The Minister also adds that the development of Nakonde One Stop border will improve efficiency and a testament of a good will by government.

He has further charged that the people of Muchinga Province will forever be indebted to the ruling party and its cooperating partners such as the World bank among others.

The Minister says the provincial administration is ready and will offer unwavering support towards the works of the projects.

Mr Sikazwe said this in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Nakonde District during his tour of the district with Muchinga Province Deputy Secretary Reverend Mathews Chilekwa among other government officials.
