PUBLIC URGED TO REPORT ENTITIES SELLING EXPIRED GOODS

The Competition and Consumer Protection  Commission (CCPC), has urged members of the public to be vigilant to report people and institutions that are in the habit of selling expired products that are harmful to their lives.

Speaking during a media briefing on the commemoration of the world consumer rights day which falls on 15th March 2025, National Organising Committee Chairperson King Syachika encouraged the public to develop the habit of reading product labels before buying.

ZANIS Reports that, Mr Syachika says that every person who buys a product or service is entitled to information that will enable them to make an informed decision without being manipulated.

And Compulsory Standards Agency Communications and public relations Manager, Brian Hatyoka attributed the influx of fake and expired products on the market to importers cheating at border posts.

He however, reiterated the Commission’s continued monitoring and enforcement of the law by removing fake and expired products from the market to safeguard the rights of consumers.
