ZAMBIA,  TANZANIA JPC CLOSES

The 3rd session of the Zambia and Tanzania Joint Commission on Defence and Security has closed with an appeal to both countries to act on the recommendations reached during the session once approved tomorrow, Thursday 27th February, 2025 during the Ministerial meeting.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary, Maambo Hamaundu said the recommendations reached during the session are cardinal in fostering peace and stability in the region.

Mr Hamaundu who is also the Chairman for the 3rd session of the Zambia and Tanzania Joint Commission on Defence and Security said the resolutions passed are pertinent to enhancing coordinated efforts in combating transnational crimes.  

He called for the implementation of the resolutions as they are key in combating transnational crimes such as human trafficking and smuggling.

The PS said both countries must ensure that what has been resolved will be acted on as the neighbouring countries strive to maintain peace, security and stability adding that tangible results will be recorded.

“I reaffirm the government’s commitment to implementing these resolutions and enhancing cordial relationships with Tanzania”, Said Mr Hamaundu.

And speaking earlier, Tanzania Ministry of Defence and National Service Permanent Secretary, Faragi Mnyepe said the recommendations passed at the just ended 3rd session of the Joint Commission on Defence and security of  Zambia and Tanzania are beneficial to the two countries.

Dr Mnyepe implored the two countries to prioritise the implementation of the recommendations once approved by the Ministers.
