MWIIMBU CALLS FOR NEW STRATEGIES IN ADDRESSING TRANSNATIONAL CRIMES

Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu has called for the formulation of new strategies aimed at combating transnational crimes. 

Mr Mwiimbu pointed out that the region is faced with security vulnerabilities which require concerted efforts to address.

ZANIS reports that speaking when he officiated at the one day ministerial meeting on the 3rd session of the Zambia/ Tanzania, JPC, Mr Mwiimbu said illegal immigration, smuggling,  human and drug trafficking pose a serious threat to peace and security in the region.  

He stressed on the need of formulating new strategies so as to address threats of transnational crimes. 

Mr Mwiimbu expressed confidence that with collective efforts peace and stability can be enhanced between Zambia and Tanzania.

He noted that peace and security is an important ingredient in fostering economic development.

Mr Mwiimbu has since thanked the technical committee of senior officials for coming up with mutual and beneficial recommendations that are essential in maintaining security in the region.

Tanzanian Minister of Defense, Stergomena Tax said the JPC is an important pillar in strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing security concerns between Tanzania and Zambia. 

Dr Tax stressed that JPC is a testament of the enduring bond of relationship that exists between the two countries.

She said the partnership between Zambia and Tanzania has grown stronger over the years. 

Dr Tax hinted that no country can fight transnational crimes in isolation hence her call for concerted efforts in addressing security vulnerabilities in the region.
