PRESIDENT HICHILEMA EXPECTED IN KASAMA

President Hakainde Hichilema is tomorrow expected in Kasama District of Northern Province for a one-day visit, to grace this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations.

President Hichilema, who will be the First Head of State to officiate a national event in Kasama, is expected to arrive at Kasama airport at 08:00 hours.

ZANIS reports that Northern Province Minister, Leonard Mbao has announced at a media briefing in Kasama, that the President is also expected to launch the 29 health rooms dotted across selected Primary Schools in the province.

“We are happy that Kasama is a beneficiary of 29 health rooms in the Primary Schools. The main objective of this project is to ensure that we increase pupil learning, while encouraging healthy learning to scholars.

Teachers have been trained and are equipped with the necessary health tools to ensure that pupils with minor ailments are immediately attended to right in the school premises.” Mr Mbao explained.

Mr Mbao revealed that the 29 health rooms are part of the more than 500 health rooms that have been constructed across the country.

The Northern Province Minister has since encouraged all women across the province to come in numbers, support each other and be a part of the celebration whose theme is tailored around ensuring that women take up the desired front seats in decision making processes.

Mr Mbao explained that the President’s visit and gracing of the IWD event, shows the commitment and importance that he places on women, as well as women empowerment.

This year’s International Women’s Day is being held under the theme, For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equity, Empowerment.

President Hakainde Hichilema is expected to return to Lusaka after his one-day engagement in Kasama.
