Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Joe Kalusa has called on Civil Servants to be focused on implementing government programmes and policies so that people can benefit.

Speaking when he addressed Heads of Government Departments during a meeting in Rufunsa district, Mr  Kalusa said government has initiated a lot of empowerment programmes under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) that people need to be sensitized.

Mr Kalusa added that it is the duty of civil servants to also enlighten people on the Cash for Work programme initiated by the government to cushion the effects of the drought experienced in the 2023/2024 farming season.

“This government has initiated a lot of developmental programmes and policies aimed at improving the welfare of its citizens. It is you as civil servants to implement these programmes so that people benefit,” said Mr Kalusa.

The Permanent Secretary further implored public servants to desist from engaging in active partisan politics.

And Rufunsa District Commissioner, Richard Mabena highlighted the challenges of office and staff accommodation being faced in the area.

“We have a challenge of staff accommodation and some of my officers stay out of the district in Chongwe making it difficult to operate effectively,” said Mr Mabena.

He however commended the government for embarking on the completion of the 20 low cost houses which were abandoned by a contractor.
