Chingola District Commissioner Raphael Chimupi says the government recognizes the challenges that women face, especially gender based violence which limits their success.

Mr Chimupi said this during this year’s International Women’s Day commemorations in Chingola district.

He stated that because of such challenges, the government has provided women with a conducive living environment where they can thrive economically and emotionally.

He further assured that government  will address challenges faced by women to ensure gender equality and the development of women.

And Chingola District Events Committee Chairperson Brian Siatubi called for the involvement of women in the mining supply chain for them to be empowered and benefit from the mining activities that are booming in the district. 

And a female clergy Apostle Florence Lusambo from JILCC challenged women to take responsibility for their families and to aspire high in life.

This year’s International Women’s Day has been commemorated under the theme ‘For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality and Empowerment.
