GOVT HANDS OVER 500 HEALTH ROOMS 

Government has officially handed over 595 health rooms dotted around the country.

President Hakainde Hichilema who witnessed the handover ceremony of health rooms at Malama Primary School in Kasama said investing in education is the best any government can offer to the people.

Mr Hichilema said the health rooms have a huge impact as no pupil can focus when they are unwell.

And President Hichilema also disclosed that over two million children have gone back to school after the introduction of free education.

The Head of State added that more than 40 thousand teachers have been recruited indicating governments resolute to improve the education sector.

Earlier Health learners Chief Executive Officer Lonnie Hackett stressed that health rooms are vital as they reduce absenteeism.

Mr Hackett disclosed that over 595 health rooms have been constructed countrywide and further pledged to scale up the initiative.

And Education Minister Douglas Syakalima says the programme aligns with the government’s vision to provide effective learning in the education sector.

Mr Syakalima said government’s intention is to eliminate barriers to education.

Minister of Health Elijah Muchima said the presence of the head of state shows unwavering support for a good healthcare system.
