200 PF defect to UPND in Zimba

Patriotic Front members in Makubu branch in Zimba district’s Chuundwe Ward, Southern Province have ditched the party to join the ruling United Party for National Development, (UPND).

Representing 200 members of the PF who defected to the UPND, Brighton Cheelo described the PF as a dead party.

Mr. Cheelo said he left the PF because he wants to be part of President Hakainde Hichilema’s developmental agenda.

The former branch chairman cited free education policy, peace, increased Constituency Development Funds as some of the many achievements that the UPND has scored since forming government.

He said the UPND government is on the right track spearheading developmental projects country-wide and has increased infrastructure development through Constituency Development Fund.

“We’ve seen what UPND is doing and therefore I and my colleagues do not see any need of remaining in opposition,” Mr. Cheelo said.

And speaking when she received the defectors today, Mapatizya Constituency Member of Parliament Emeldah Munashabantu, reaffirmed government’s commitment to improve the welfare of citizens through good policies as enshrined in the UPND manifesto.

Mrs Munashabantu told the new members to rally behind and support President Hakainde Hichilema in transforming Zambia to attain the sustainable development goals that will benefit the Zambian people.
