President Hakainde Hichilema has distributed baby hampers to 10 New Year babies at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).
And President Hakainde Hichilema has also presented hampers to New Year born babies in various hospitals in Lusaka.
ZANIS reports that the President says there is a need to show commitment and love to mothers and children in the country as well as recognise the important role they play in society.
And President Hichilema commended UTH personnel for the hard work and commitment in achieving universal health coverage.
He added that the health institution has made strides in improving the safety of the mothers after delivery.
“Now people have confidence in UTH because they know that the health institution gives quality services” he said.
The President further urged the health personnel to continue working as a team to enhance efficiency in the delivery of health care services.
Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata presented the hampers on behalf of the President at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH), Kanyama Level One Hospital and Chipata Level One hospital respectively.
In a word of gratitude shortly after the handover, Acting UTH Senior Medical Superintendent for Women and Newborn hospital, Agrippa Lungu thanked the government for their unwavering commitment in ensuring that the hospital as well as health sector is supported through various initiatives.
He noted that the government support such as funding as well as a new ambulance recently procured for the hospital, has assisted the health facility to enhance quality health care services to its clients.
He revealed that due to such support by government, the hospital has also successfully separated siamese twins among other 2024 successes which is a success for the health facility.
