MAMBWE Town Council says it will soon start repossessing undeveloped plots which were acquired from the local authority starting from as far back as 2018.

Council Assistant Public Relations Officer Grace Lungu, notes that the decision to repossess undeveloped plots was arrived at after a survey was conducted to establish the number of undeveloped plots in the district.

Ms Lungu disclosed that a total of 292 plots are still not developed since they were issued to owners before the year 2018.

ZANIS reports that Ms Lungu said the repossession of undeveloped plots was aimed at ensuring widespread infrastructure development in the district.

She observed that infrastructure development was a key component in the economic development of any district hence moving in as a local authority.

Ms Lungu said that the council was conducting an ongoing verification exercise and called on all affected parties to avail themselves at the local authority before further action is taken.

She also urged members of the public to take keen interest and utilise the various platforms such as Notice Boards, Council Website and Radio stations among others, where public notices that affect them were shared.

Ms Lungu said all clients who had not developed their plots acquired before 2018 only had until 31stJanuary, 2025, before the local authority swung into action and reposes all undeveloped plots.
