A 43-year-old man of Mwaaba Village in Kaputa District in Northern Province has appeared in the Kaputa Magistrate Court for murder.
ZANIS reports that before Magistrate Emmanuel Mukoma was Amis Chongo, a fisherman who is facing one count of murder contrary to section 200 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Chongo is accused of murdering Mowa Shilika, a resident of Kaputa District on October 20, 2024, and continues to be remanded in police custody.
Magistrate Mukoma, however, explained that the accused will continue to appear before the magistrate court as the court waits for instructions.
Meanwhile, in the same court, a 19-year-old teenager of Kaputa has pleaded guilty to burglary contrary to section 301A of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
This is in the case in which Gift Kalumba, was appearing before Magistrate Emmanuel Mukoma for plea.
Facts before the courts were that on December 22, 2024, Kalumba broke into Joyce Chansa’s house in the night with intent to and in fact stole two duvets, 2.5 liters of cooking oil, two chitenge materials, a jacket, and footwear.
The court has since set January 21, 2025, for the reading of written facts while the suspect continues to be remanded in custody.
