HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST CALLS FOR ENHANCED SECURITY

HUMAN Rights Activist Wesley Miyanda has urged the government to heighten security measures, particularly at points of entry, to combat the recent rise in killings.

Mr Miyanda says some foreigners have been implicated in ritual killings, which are often linked to criminal activities.

“You will find someone has gone missing then after some time, they are found dead, we need to game up our security system where we need to have all police officers alert,” he said.

The activist also advocated for increased police presence, particularly in areas prone to crime.

Mr Miyanda added that with the growing population, it’s essential to deploy more officers to maintain law and order in the country.

He has since called on the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security together with the Immigration Department to scrutinise individuals entering the country.

Mr Miyanda further encouraged all citizens to be security-conscious and report suspicious activities.

Zambia has experienced a series of violent killings in recent weeks, prompting concerns over public safety and security.
