GARDEN COMPOUND FAMILY CHARGED WITH MURDER CASE

THE Zambia Police Service has formally arrested and charged the six suspects in the Garden compound murder case.

In a statement issued to ZANIS, Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga disclosed that the six have been jointly charged with two offences.

Mr Hamoonga said the charges slapped include manslaughter, contrary to Section 199 of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

He added that the second charge was Concealing Death, contrary to Section 9 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act Chapter 51 of the Laws of Zambia.

“The suspects are currently remanded in police custody and will be appearing in court soon,” Mr Hamoonga stated.

He indicated that while investigations into the circumstances leading to the death of Mr George Kalaba are ongoing, reminded that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Mr Hamoonga assured the public that the Zambia Police Service remains committed to ensuring justice is served in this matter.

This is in the case of the late Mr George Kalaba, aged 51 of Luangwa – Garden Compound, who was discovered dead in a skeletal state in his house.
