PARAMOUNT CHIEF CHITIMUKULU CALLS FOR ENHANCED PLANNING

PARAMOUNT Chief Chitimukulu has called for enhanced strategic planning systems in the country.

Paramount Chief Chitimukulu says poor planning impacts negatively on development.

The traditional leader states that it is sad that most existing towns were not properly planned at the time of establishment; the situation he said has resulted in uncoordinated development.

ZANIS reports that Chief Chitimukulu said this when Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Gary Nkombo paid a courtesy call on him at his residence in Kasama. 

He has since commended the government for making it mandatory for local authorities to come up with integrated development plans.

And Local Government and Rural Development Minister Gary Nkombo disclosed that the government is aware of the challenges that the country has faced due to lack of proper planning.

Mr Nkombo says the government is keen to change the status quo hence the formulation of Integrated Development Plans as part of the solution.

The Minister was in Kasama District yesterday where he officially launched the Integrated Development Plans for 14 local authorities from Northern and Luapula Provinces.
