AFRICAN MINING INDABA OPENS TOMORROW IN CAPE TOWN

The annual African Mining Indaba has opened in Capetown, South Africa attracting over 8000 delegates representing over 100 countries from across the globe. 

Zambia, being one of the world’s largest producers of copper and other minerals, is participating at the indaba that has attracted investors, partners and decision makers, vested in the mining sector. 

Minister of Finance and National Planning Situmbeko Musokotwane, will represent President Hakainde Hichilema at the event which has been held for over 30 years. 

Dr. Musokotwane is accompanied by the Minister of Mine and Minerals Development Paul Kabuswe, Minister of Transport and Logistics Frank Tayali.

Others include Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development Permanent Secretary Hapenga Kabeta, senior government officials and representatives from mining companies, banking and the private sectors.

The Zambian delegation is also expected to hold a series of bilateral and side meetings with potential investors and other cooperating partners.

The indaba has opened today, with a Ministerial symposium where Minister of Mines and Minerals Development Paul Kabuswe is representing the country ahead of the official opening tomorrow February 3rd, 2025

ZANIS REPORTS that the event is aimed at showcasing Africa’s commitment to attracting investment in its mining sector where Heads of State, government representatives and other decision-makers representing the African mining value chain meet to discuss the future of Africa’s mining industry.

This year’s mining Indaba which will run from February 3rd  to 6th  2025 is being held under the theme: Future-proofing African Mining today.
