North- western Province has received five anesthetic machines and 1,000 blankets from the Ministry of Health to be distributed this week.
Provincial Health Director, Luckson Chidikita, has told ZANIS in an interview in Solwezi today that Chavuma, Mufumbwe, Kasempa and Ikelenge are among the District hospitals that will benefit from the first phase while the remaining 6 districts will benefit in the next phase.
Dr Chidikita explained that anesthetic machines are important machines for use in theaters when operating on patients and have been lacking in the hospitals within the province as most of them have obsolete equipment.
“As a province in terms of medical equipment we are moving in the right direction, so the issues of having no blankets on the bed and theatres having no theatre machines is the thing of the past, and I am delighted that this is happening at the time I am occupying the position of Provincial Health Director,” he said.
He has further expressed gratitude to the government through the Ministry of Health for ensuring that the Province is equipped with medical equipment to improve delivery of health care services.
Dr Chidikita said the province is yet to receive more beddings for distribution to various health facilities to serve the patients better.
