Kanchibiya District Commissioner Chrispin Chilekwa has expressed happiness with the distribution process of farming inputs under Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) via the e-voucher system.
Mr Chilekwa said the system has allowed local farmers to significantly expand their cultivation efforts, improving food security and economic stability in the district.
Mr. Chilekwa observed during a meeting with Agriculture officers and local farmers, who shared their success stories since the implementation of the e- voucher commenced.
He noted that the e-voucher system, has enabled individual farmers to redeem inputs, has replaced the previous Direct Input Supply system, where groups of beneficiaries were required to share six bags of fertilizer.
“The e-voucher system is a game changer, empowering our farmers with the resources they need individually to ensure food security at household level in the district,” Mr. Chilekwa said.
And District Agriculture Extension Officer, Ernest Moonga, echoed the commissioner’s sentiments, describing the shift as a major improvement in agricultural support.
“This system has streamlined our operations, allowing for a more efficient and fair distribution of resources,” he said.
Meanwhile farmers in the district have welcomed the e-voucher initiative and have since thanked Government for the initiative.
Benjamin Mukuka, a local farmer under FISP, expressed gratitude for the support, noting that receiving eight bags of fertilizer individually has allowed him to cultivate a larger area and support his family.
“In the past, we only received six bags to share among a group, which made things unpredictable. Now, I can plan better and increase my production,” he said.
