LUNTE COUNCIL DRAFTS SEXUAL HARASSMENT POLICY

LUNTE Town Council is formulating a sexual harassment office policy that is aimed at protecting both male and female employees against sexual harassment at the place of work.

The policy which has reached an advanced stage is also expected to provide guidance on how to report cases of sexual harassment.

Lunte Council Secretary, Jonathan Mwanza, said the Council would want to provide a conducive working environment for all.

“We want an environment where both male and female officers work in harmony without fear of being sexually harassed, this can be proven by the policy that we are coming up with,” he said.

He explained that once the policy is adopted, the local authority expects to have a system of addressing sexual harassment grievances and awareness on forms of harassments.

“There are some kind of sexual harassment that employees may not be aware of and with this policy we want employees to be aware of what constitutes sexual harassment,” said Mr Mwanza.

He disclosed that the policy is currently at the development stage and will be adopted by the end of December.
