K1.5million set aside for Costele mine CSR programmes

Costele Mine Limited has set aside K1.5 million for Corporate Social Responsibility programmes for the Jifumpa community in Kasempa district of North-western province.

Costele Mine limited Representative Judy Li said the company will ensure that communities, especially in areas where it is operating, benefit more from the allocation.

Ms. Li disclosed this to ZANIS in Kasempa district of North-western today during the official first scope meeting of opening the mine in Jifumpa area.

Ms. Li said the move is part of upholding the company’s committed investments.

She said the corporate social responsibility projects will create direct jobs to the locals and add value to accountability and transparency.

“This is just like any other investor. We will bring social and economic development in Kasempa district and the nation at large, she said.

Ms. Li said that they will connect the Jifumpa area in Kasempa district to the national power grid.

Ms.  Li has reiterated Costele Mine limited commitment to investing five million United states’ dollars in capital mining and adding that the mine has agreed on paying 1.5 million kwacha for corporate social responsibility annually.

“We resolved to invest 1.5 million kwacha yearly as corporate social responsibility that will follow an agreement of memorandum of understanding with the community in order to give voice to the local community when we are having production, “She said.

Meanwhile RUIDA investment limited human resource Morgan Moono Kazembe thanked Costele Mine limited for the partnership concerning connecting the Jifumpa area to the national post grid and maintenance of roads.
