THE Namwala Town Council has allocated K1.4 million Kwacha under the 2024 Constituency Development Funds (CDF) allocation for the rehabilitation of a 12 Kilometers stretch of township in Namwala Central ward.
Namwala Town Council Public Relations Officer, Nchimunya Likubi told ZANIS in an interview that the council using earthmoving equipment purchased using CDF funding is set to undertake upgrades of roads in the district starting with 12 Kilometers.
Ms Likubi pointed out that the improvements will include grading and gravelling of several roads, aimed at increasing mobility for residents in order to ease transportation challenges.
She added that the road works are part of ongoing efforts to enhance local infrastructure and improve accessibility for the community.
She disclosed that the upgrade will be done in order to enhance access to key facilities in the district.
Ms Likubi pointed out that various stretches will be upgraded to improve access to both residents and business in the area.
Meanwhile, Namwala Town Council has developed comprehensive plans to roll out similar road works to all the 15 remaining wards.
“This initiative is part of an ongoing exercise to improve the road network across the entire district, ensuring that every resident, regardless of their location, benefits from enhanced infrastructure and better accessibility,” she said.
She highlighted that the council is fully committed to this long-term project, and residents can expect continued progress throughout the district.
