CHALIMBANA SECONDARY SCHOOL GETS NEW CLASSROOM BLOCK USING CDF

A one by three classroom block has been constructed at Chalimbana Secondary school in Chalimbana ward of Chongwe district using  the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The classroom block which was constructed at a cost of over K733,000 is expected to increase learning space for pupils at the school.

Speaking to ZANIS in an interview Chalimbana ward councilor Phebian Mundyongo stated that the infrastructure will address the challenge of congestion in classrooms at the school following the implementation of the free education policy by the government.

Mr. Mundyongo said the classroom block will enable children to learn under a conducive environment thereby contributing towards the improvement of both pupil and teacher performance at the school.

“As a community, we are happy that the construction of this classroom block has finally been completed. The congestion in classes at the school was a source of concern as it is difficult for teachers to give attention to pupils individually and pupils to focus on lessons when there are too many. With the completion of this structure, this challenge will be addressed,” Mr. Mundyongo said.

He indicated that more classroom blocks are required at the school to create more learning space for pupils adding that the communities in the ward will continue utilising CDF to construct the infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Chalimbana Secondary School Headmaster, Angela Kamushasha explained that the pupils at the school will no longer use classrooms under Chalimbana Primary school once the newly constructed classroom block becomes operational.

Ms. Kamushasha stated that sharing classrooms with pupils under the primary school section has not been conducive as some pupils at the secondary school are prompted to have lessons in the afternoon.

She also indicated that the new classroom block will go a long way in helping teachers give more attention to pupils during lessons as classes are expected to be decongest education.

Ms. Kamushasha noted that Chalimbana Secondary school is the only school in the ward that is currently offering secondary school education to male children in the ward hence the need for more classroom blocks to be constructed at the institution.

She thanked the community for prioritising the construction of the classroom block at the school through CDF adding that the development will go a long way to increase access to secondary school education for children in the area.
