Mambwe road works to commence

Malambo Constituency Member of Parliament Peter Phiri says the government has plans to work on the bad roads in Mambwe District.

Mr. Phiri said the bad roads were not only in Mambwe District alone, but also in other areas in the country.

Mr. Phiri said earth moving equipment has already been procured using the Malambo Constituency Development Fund in order for roads in the district to be worked on.

He told ZANIS in an interview that the district cannot keep relying on the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development to work on all the roads in the district when the local authority had the machinery and manpower to do so.

Mr. Phiri said currently, some short- distance township roads were being worked on before works could be commenced on long-distance roads such as the Ncheka- Chipako road and other roads in Msoro Ward.

He said works on the long-distance roads such as the Malama Chikhunto road which is in a very deplorable state will commence before the onset of the rains.

Mr. Phiri further disclosed that the Road Development Agency was also on course to put up a bridge at Lupande river in Chipako Ward.
