FRA assures farmers of speedy payments

The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) in Northern Province has assured farmers in the region of speedy payment for the maize that they will supply during this year’s crop marketing season.

FRA Northern Province Marketing Coordinator Timothy Chanda said this year’s payment to farmers will be made on time.

Mr. Chanda has since appealed to farmers in the region to sell their maize to FRA adding that there is assurance and surety of getting paid on time.

Mr Chanda explained that FRA will not take more than three days for the farmers to receive their payments.

He disclosed that the agency has introduced additional payment methods, such as through the bank, mobile money, mobile warrant, and cash over the counter.

Mr Chanda was speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Kasama.

He added that FRA has also engaged banks in the region to help pay farmers who will supply maize to the agency.

Mr. Chanda said FRA has started receiving the money for purchasing the maize.

He noted that the agency is also likely to buy other crops once the floor prices are announced.

He said the prices will also determine which types of crops are to be bought.
