Government has called for unity of purpose among Zambians, in order to foster peace and eradicate Gender Based Violence (GBV) in communities, across the country.
Speaking during the flagging off ceremony to mark the commencement of the 16 days of Activism against Gender Based Violence road show In Lusaka, Gender Division Permanent Secretary Mainga Kabika noted that sexual and gender-based violence is a national problem and a growing concern.
ZANIS reports that Ms Kabika said her team will be in Mandevu and Mtendere to sensitise the communities on the eradication of GBV.
And advised citizens to report any cases of GBV to the nearest police station.
She also called on the public to join the government in creating a safe environment for children in schools and communities.
The commemoration of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence began on November 25 and will continue until December 10, 2024.
